A serious indictment is expected to be filed tomorrow (Thursday) against Ironi Tiberias by the Football Association prosecutor, attorney Gilad Bergman. A little more than three weeks after the explosion of the affair, which was dubbed in the media as the Ironings affair, Bergman is expected to file the indictment against the team. According to sources familiar with the details, this is an indictment defined as serious.

However, it is still unclear whether attorney Bergman will attach a demand or recommendation for punishment to the indictment. Over the years, association prosecutors have sometimes done so, but they are not obligated to do so.

In recent days, quite a few discussions and consultations have taken place in the legal department of the Football Association regarding the question of whether to recommend a punishment and at what level to set it.

The central question is whether the prosecutor will demand a punishment, and if so, whether it will involve a recommendation for relegation. The assessment among various sources is that this is not a case that justifies a recommendation for relegation, even though it is defined as serious.

In Tiberias, they took the affair lightly in recent days, and mainly attacked the investigator on behalf of the Football Association and the leaks from the case. The association, on the other hand, does not attach importance to this and sees the statements as marginal claims unrelated to the severity of the offenses.

From the perspective of the Football Association, the investigation was conducted properly, and the findings should lead to a serious indictment. However, there is considerable doubt whether the case can be linked to relegation, and the more likely possibility is a punishment of points deduction.

As a reminder, Ironi Tiberias will open the next season with a punishment of six points deduction, already imposed on it due to the double contracts affair.
